I don't know this for a fact, only that it wasn't uncommon back then for smaller markets to receive first-run movies later and that that happened with Star Wars in some places around the country. I do know the preview was the night before it officially opened in Knoxville, so I'm still pretty confident it was May 24 - I'm just not super confident.Barry Wallacehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08691670547045531673noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4091955.post-75735707775219821882017-06-30T10:50:18.493-04:002017-06-30T10:50:18.493-04:00Thanks! I had just finished my sophomore year at West and I won tickets on WRJZ as well. We were there at the same time seeing history and had no idea what was to come. Thanks for this post. Now I know the date and that it was actually before the big release. I wish I still had the ticket stubs. There's still an outside chance that she is Kylo's twin sister (Abrams likes to reuse plot points.) but I have a hard time coming up with a storyline that has either Luke or Leia abandoning their child to become a scavenger on a desert planet.

2. I'm pretty comfortable believing that the loss of Ben to the Dark Side is what broke up their marriage. But we'll see. As for why he turned, we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully, it is a better story than Annakin's turn. And I don't think there will be any redemption for Kylo. Unlike Annakin, he is actively seeking the Dark side.
3. Another example of Abrams reusing story points. Another mysterious figure appearing only in a hologram orchestrating the bad guys? Dude, Xeroxing a story is not writing. Who is Snoke? Don't know. I don't even have a guess. From a real world perspective, I think Abrams is stringing together neat ideas without a real storyline in mind, similar to the early seasons of Lost and Alias. I don't expect a lot of coherency from him.
4. I'm pretty sure that Han and Chewie were there because Abrams needed them there. Maybe he can call Darth George and have him retcon a reason. On the other hand, the Falcon being on the same planet as Rey is too coincidental to be ignored. It must be explained somehow.
5. Add to this another question: What caused R2D2 to wake up? That tidbit tells me that Luke is working a deeper plan than has been revealed yet. My guess is that when Ben turned to Kylo, Luke was told by Obi-wan and/or Yoda about Snoke and that he would have to fall back and play a longer game. Remember, they did the same thing waiting for the twins to grow up to face the Emperor.

As for Poe, who knows. I agree his return was too pat but I can't tell if that is a plot point or more laziness on Abram's part.

Finn is Force sensitive. I can't remember the specific plot point that showed it, but there were several clues. He broke his conditioning when nobody else had. Kylo Ren sensed him for no apparent reason. His ability to rapidly learn the weapons system on two different ships, similar to Rey's ability to learn to fly the Falcon. As for his saber skills, none of these children are particularly skilled with a light saber, not even Kylo. He has more training, but his emotional volatility reduces him to hacking and slashing, ignoring his training.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00247494227513163287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4091955.post-50513012757795014492015-07-20T11:35:47.781-04:002015-07-20T11:35:47.781-04:00Season one is ALL about the characters having dadd...Season one is ALL about the characters having daddy issues. We wanted to visit the 9/11 Memorial and in doing so, I strolled to the actual site of the buildings where names were engraved. Of the thousands of names, my eyes fell upon the name REBECCA LEE KORBORIE. I decided I would remember that name and look it up when I got home. And I have. She and I were only a year apart, I was born 1952. She was obviously lovely, talented and so well loved and missed. I honor her I wish her family only the sweetest memories of her. My mother and I were about to board Soarin', my mother's favorite ride, only to discover that it was closed down. We thought it was a breakdown, so we explored more of the park, still clutching our FastPasses. 3 hours and 9 Disney Characters later, we rode it to conclude that nutty day at my favorite WDW park. (We skipped Illuminations because school starts early in the morning.) I found out the reason why it was closed - a New Yorker near 70 named John Parietti was rushed to the hospital because of difficulty standing while exiting the ride and died two days later. Hokey.

Now that I exercise often, I'm able to go on a bundle of rides. I will be consulting a doctor for a checkup and I hope the same for all others going to Disney!
